Retiree Organizations We Support

The AFT Washington Retiree Chapter has many relationships in the policy and advocacy space. We are committed to working to build a better world for Washington's retirees! Some of the organizations we work with are below.

Pacific Northwest Labor History Association (PNLHA): PNLHA is a non-profit association dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of workers in the Pacific Northwest, which includes British Columbia, Oregon and Washington. PNLHA's members are trade unionists, students, academics, and others who share an interest in the history and heritage of workers in this region. The labor movement must know where it’s been to know where it’s going.

Puget Sound Advocates For Retirement Action (PSARA): PSARA's purpose is working across generations for social justice, economic security, dignity, and a healthy planet for all of us. They have a newsletter, the Retiree Advocate, and robust legislative, policy, and social agendas.

Retired Public Employees Council of Washington (RPEC): While RPEC is the AFSCME Local 10 retiree council and does not represent AFT Washington members, in practice, RPEC's robust legislative advocacy often identifies state-level issues the AFT Washington Retiree Chapter supports.

Washington State Alliance for Retired Americans (WSARA): WSARA is a statewide nonprofit organization with over 90,000 members that unites our affiliate organizations, retired workers and community groups to win social and economic justice and a better, more secure future for ourselves, our families and future generations. WSARA is the official state affiliate of the Alliance for Retired Americans,

Washington State Senior Citizens' Lobby: The Senior Citizens' Lobby is an advocacy organization with a wide cross-section of members who work on and support retiree issues, bringing talented and nuanced voices to their advocacy agenda. They also host an annual conference dedicated to retiree concerns.
