We on the Executive Board are pleased to inform you of our upcoming Biennial Meeting, to be held on Wednesday, September 24th, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, on Zoom. We will have time before and after the meeting for attendees to say hello. Please let us know you plan to attend by registering with Cortney Marabetta at cmarabetta@aftwa.org or 206-499-4826. A tentative agenda is enclosed with this letter. A packet with materials, including Zoom information and agenda, will be sent to registered remote attendees before the meeting; the same packet will be available at the meeting for in-person attendees.
We have invited Robby Stern of Puget Sound Advocates For Retirement Action (PSARA) to speak on PSARA's work on Social Security and Medicare and on building a strong community of retirees. We will also hear from the Yes on 8201 Campaign, calling for an amendment to the state Constitution that will make the long term care fund sustainable for the fugure. We will also spend time discussing our plans for the next two years; we have welcomed many new members recently, and we would like to hear from you regarding workshops and other events that would be of interest to retirees over the next two years.
We will also have an election of board officers. If you are interested in being a member of the Executive Board or know of someone who is interested, please contact Cortney Marabetta. The Executive Board positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and five Directors. Nominations will be accepted at the meeting, as well.
