Humor in the Workplace

Designed to outline the physical benefits of laughter as well as how laughter can be a benefit in the workplace. Participation will be both fun and expected. Exercises to unlock creativity and help find your sense of humor will be featured along with the opportunity to be funny and take away ideas to incorporate humor in your classroom or office.
 
Providing Healthy Nutrition for Kids
Kira Acker, Renton School District Nutrition Services
This workshop will give participants the tools they need to implement more fruits and veggies into their program and home, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle beginning at the earliest age. The class is designed to help you get kids (and their parents) excited about health and nutrition. The workshop instructor is certified by the Washington State Nutrition Association.
 
Brain Development and the Young Child and the Effects of Early Trauma

The first three years of a child’s life are the foundation for healthy, normal development. This workshop will present information about how a young child’s brain develops and the effect of early trauma on the developing brain and its life-long implications.
 
Flying Your True Colors for True Success

Ever wonder why, no matter what you do, that some people seem unreachable? True Colors will help you understand other peoples’ personalities as well as your own to build positive, productive relationships at work. True Colors is a model of personality identification that is easy to understand, remember, and apply. This workshop is energetic and fun. Limited to 20 participants.
 
Understanding Basic Microsoft Office

This hands-on workshop will be conducted in the computer lab and is delivered in two parts: From 8:30 - 10:30 am, learn Outlook Email and Calendar and from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, learn Word. Participants are required to have basic computer skills and familiarity with Outlook and Word, 2010 version. Limited to 24 participants.
 
Connecting the Dots: Building Alliances to Build Power*
Kristin Elia, AFT Washington Political Organizer
Decisions are continually made by local and state elected officials that have big impacts on our professions and communities. This workshop will focus on how to connect the dots in our personal and professional lives to build alliances that build power. Together with other union members, community organizations, and our neighbors we can create relationships with elected officials that allow us to share our stories and be our own advocates.
