Take Our "[Re]Invest in Our Colleges" (ROC) Survey

Attn: AFT Washington Higher Education Members

We are seeking to amplify the voices of our members who work in Washington State's community and technical colleges and find out what's important to you. Please complete this brief survey to provide us with your priorities and ideas on how to improve your workplace specifically, and our community college system overall. The survey results will be helpful as we begin to finalize our legislative priorities for the 2019 legislative session that will help [Re]Invest in Our Colleges.

2018 WSLC Resolution 19: Renewing the Call for Full Support of the Labor Community and Technical College System

Delegates at the Washington State Labor Council Convention passed a resolution renewing the call for full support of the community and technical college system. Washington State has established a goal of 70% of residents achieving a post-high school credential or degree which will, by necessity, require additional investment in the higher education system and the employees who support students. The two-year colleges have been underfunded for decades, and it is time to step up and invest in the  employees who teach, who keep the college safe and clean, and who provide student services.

Tips on How to Conduct a Petition Drive at Your Local

Contact your relevant school or college facilities office and reserve a table or an area for petitioning. . .

  • during the hours during the day when the most people are there,
  • in a place with lots of foot-traffic,
  • from Monday, January 4 (at the earliest) through Friday, January 29.

Gathering signatures is an ACTIVE process; merely sitting or standing passively while people walk by is not effective compared to greeting people with a smile and a quick explanatory introduction.
