On Wednesday, July 6, we have a great opportunity to meet with Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson to ask questions and share our experiences
and concerns working with state Assistant Attorneys General (AAGs). The meeting takes place at 4 PM in at the AFT Washington office, 625 Andover Park W., Suite 111, Tukwila.
The Assistant Attorneys General play a major role in our state’s education system.
AAGs attend monthly board meetings at each college and school where they advise the boards on constitutional rights and statutory interpretation, student rights and responsibilities, labor/management disputes, labor arbitrations, and misconduct. They are very involved in giving advice on grievances, unfair labor practices and contract proposals, and they weigh in on settlement offers.
In addition to the colleges and schools, AAGs serve state agencies such as the Office of the Superintendent of Public Schools, State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, and other public entities in the pre-K-16 education system.
Please plan to join us for this important discussion on July 6th.
