If your membership has expired, it is time to renew!
This is an exciting time in the field of early learning. Because people like you saw value in becoming a member of the Child Care Workforce Alliance of Washington, we have grown in numbers and clout. At a leadership retreat in June, your colleagues chose a new name that more accurately reflects the important work in which you are involved: Washington Educators in Early Learning (WEEL/AFT).
The American Federation of Teachers has now combined efforts with the Washington Education Association (WEA) to support early learning professionals, so WEEL is a joint organizing project of AFT and WEA. Because of your support, we have come this far, and we need your continuing support to succeed.
There are many benefits to being a WEEL member. STARS training offered by WEEL remains free to members, as well as liability insurance for teachers and access to new supplemental health insurance. But the most important role is the opportunity to drive new resources into the early learning profession for wages, benefits, and professional development and for teachers and directors to obtain the respect they deserve.
In the 2008 legislative session, we will be pushing legislation that gives you the right to collectively bargain with the state around issues related to increased wages, benefits, and professional development. Make sure you are part of the team that makes this happen. Renew your membership today.
To renew, click here or the resource link below to open an Adobe PDF version of the WEEL renewal application. Print it, fill it out, and mail it back to us with your renewal fee of $50. Optionally, have a monthly fee of $4.20 taken from your checking account. If you prefer that monthly payment option, complete the Electronic Funds Transfer box on the renewal form and include a voided check when you return it to us.
Weekly emails and visits from your organizer allow you to be up to date on all the latest happenings in the field and most importantly, to participate. We are stronger together and as a member you will continue to have a voice in setting the early learning agenda. Encourage your fellow staff people to join as well!
