Hello! Bienvinidos!
As co-chairs of the Seattle chapter of Washington Educators in Early Learning/AFT, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all our fellow members and other allies.
Joining WEEL is about being part of something bigger than ourselves, and it's the best investment you can make in yourself and your profession. Those of us who work in child care and early learning know firsthand that change needs to happen. This change will only come through individuals unifying to create a more powerful voice.
As with other great movements in our time, we can't wait for others to make things happen. It is incumbent upon all of us -- teachers, providers, directors, parents, and other allies -- to join together and invest in ourselves, for now and for our future. We can't afford not to!
Being part of the American Federation of Teachers makes us part of a larger labor movement . . . and let us not forget that it was labor unions who fought and won the 8-hour workday, the weekend, pensions, collective bargaining, and a voice on the job!
We are excited about our future of working with you to demand worthy wages and respect for our profession and for the children, families, and the hard work we do everyday.
