State Law Passed to Allow Admin-Exempt Employees to Join Union

During the 2007 legislative session, the governor signed House Bill 2361 to allow administrative exempt employees to join a union. This classification of employees was previously exempt from collective bargaining. AFT Washington refers to this group of employees as "professional staff."

Professional staff at Yakima Valley College became the first organized professional staff local since the law passed and is affiliated with AFT Washington.
