Upcoming Member Meetings with Legislators or Congressmembers

As part of our legislative lobbying efforts, we have scheduled "Rolling Lobby Days"  for members to meet with state legislators or congressional representatives about our issues. It is important that members living in the elected officials' districts are part of those meetings so they can hear directly from their constituencies

If you are interested in attending, please contact Richard Burton, Political Organizer, at 206-225-0621 or rburton@aftwa.org.

The 2009 legislative session began Monday, January 12, 2009, and is scheduled to end April 26, 2009. We will continually keep this page updated throughout the legislative session so check back often.

Dr. Bernal Baca is AFT Washington's lobbyist and will be in Olympia during the 2009 legislative session working on behalf of our members and issues.

If you want to get our weekly legislative updates, sign up for GetActive. Because of state ethics laws, we can only send updates to your home e-mail.

There are six ways you can help during the legislative session to help stop cuts to public education -- from early learning to higher education. We can't do it without every member getting actively involved. Click on the title above to see the ways you can help.

Do you want to have an impact on legislation? Do you want to weigh in on the state budget or legislative priorities in Olympia? There's a great way you can: through Legislative Education Groups (LEGs).
