Health Care reform under coordinated assault by Corporate interests
Print E-mail

In the last few days, there have been many reported acts of intimidation directed toward congressmen and women who have been trying to communicate information about the public plan option for Health Care.

Well, here is your chance to fight back.

The following links provide a counter punch.

  • For finding local town hall meetings that will provide an opportunity for the public to communicate with Representatives.  All you do is enter in your zip code and you'll see upcoming events within 100 miles;
  • great memo on how to handle the rude and disruptive behavior coordinated and funded by the SwiftBoaters and mimic those who helped intimidate the Florida recount in 2000.  They include talking points as well as strategy for difusing the high emotions of these meetings.

These antics are not grassroots.  They have been dubbed astroturf because of the corporate funding and organization.  As much as it is important to challenge our representatives--we all respect that--the methods employed by these intimidators are not good for America.  Health Care reform is.

A good report, complete with an organizing memo from the corporate interests on how to disrupt and "rattle" the congressmen and women can be found here: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/07/31/recess-harassment-memo/

The following 10 minute video gives some context.  From the video:  "...this is how corporate america creates the illusion of a grassroots movement to support their own interests.  This is what they do. They are professionals.  This is an industry."
